  Race Chasers

RACE CHASERS – A father and son motorcycle adventure – where the journey’s the thing…, Eric Rogers was diagnosed with cancer three years ago. He has learned to manage treatment in addition to the emotional toll, yet the upside is the realization that he is not immortal, that, like everyone, his days are numbered, that every breath is precious. His prognosis is good, but the lessons have been learned, and he will spend each cherished day with loved ones, with Ethan, his nine year-old son, traveling the world, making memories. They won’t waste a second.

*RACE CHASERS is a thirteen episode television series, one hour each episode, with the thirteenth episode a two-hour finale.

*RACE CHASERS will take a father, Eric Rogers, 44, and his son, Ethan, 9, on a round-the-world trip astride motorcycles. Friends, and fellow father and son, John Haskell, and his son, Jonah, 9, older by one day than Ethan, will come along.

*Each episode will begin with a planning stage First Segment where we will discuss the next motorcycle race we will attend during the episode. The race will take place in our destination country. It will be a world-class road or motocross race with international superstars, ripping up the dirt or tarmac, sweating and toiling for our entertainment.

*Segment Two will begin our adventure. We’ll strike camp, fold our maps, and then begin riding to our race destination. This will be an opportunity for father and son unity, learning about the country and culture through which we are riding, speaking by two-way radio as our bikes move through the land, viewers seeing what we see through small helmet cams. After the most intense adventure we can find (skydiving, shooting rapids, bungee or vine diving, or motocrossing through a barren desert) we will stop to eat, speak, and commune with the local population, absorbing the differences between local customs and our own American ways.

*Segment Three will be a chance to work with a local charity. It will be a golden opportunity for the boys to learn that by giving to the less fortunate, we often receive more back than we provide. This might take the form of a joint project with Riders for Health in Africa, an organization dedicated to training medical staff to bring medicine and treatment on dirt bikes to those who would otherwise be stranded in the bush. Or, a trip to a cancer hospice in conjunction with the Livestrong organization to lift the spirits of terminal patients.

*Segment Four will herald our arrival at the race venue. We will mingle with the racers, gauging their mettle, experience, and expectations. We will interview race fans, determining the history and traditions of the race. We will try out the race bikes for ourselves (attempting to avoid the hospital) or have the boys ride as passenger while the pros race around the track.

*Segment Five will wrap up the episode, setting up camp for the night, discussing the journey to the race, riding the race bikes, the race itself, and what we learned about the world, it’s peoples, societies, ourselves, each other, and motorcycle culture. Finally, we’ll tease the next journey before brushing out our campfire and going to sleep.

SAFETY: Keeping participants safe will be our first priority. We will always wear a complete compliment of protection, sparing no device, pad, brace, armor, or shield. The boys will always be attached to their fathers via a buddy belt. Helmets and other protection will be a terrific opportunity to exhibit and present products for our sponsors. We will never be in a hurry, never rush in lieu of a secure ride.

SUPPORT: We plan complete support. We envision two SUVs with security, medical, and mechanical assistance. We will successfully navigate our expedition. No travel is perfect – we will face challenges, yet these will add to the suspense and entertainment in the series.

SPONSORS: Our Sponsors will be our lifeblood, and we will exhibit their products, services, and properties with pride, exhibiting logos, demonstrating usage, and enjoying the benefits of everything our Sponsors contribute to RACE CHASERS.
